Demographic transition
Currently, Brazil is in about stage 4 of the demographic transition model. The birth and death rates are both low at 16 births and 6 deaths. The natural increase rate is also rapidly decreasing as it should according to the generic demographic transition model. There is a very low fertility rate at 1.8 children per women. This causes the birth rate to almost be at the same level as death rates. This low birth rate was probably caused by more women going into the work force and delaying pregnancy.
